Lisa Meyer

Lisa Helfend Meyer is certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California and a founding partner at Meyer, Olson, Lowy & Meyers, LLP.  Her unique blend of experience, interest and expertise is in all areas of family law.

Lisa a is a strong advocate for the rights of children as well as for the rights of parents. She is highly regarded as an expert in move-away cases; contested adoptions; non-marital parental disputes; child abuse; parental alienation syndrome; visitation disputes; attachment theory and appropriate time-share arrangements for young children; drug and alcohol dependency; and children with special needs.  Among her notable recent cases was representing Abbie Cohen Dorn in which she won child visitation rights for the severely disabled mother.

Lisa  has been published extensively and lectures frequently before professional and academic audiences, and was a consultant to the highly regarded television show Family Law.  Ms. Meyer is frequently quoted as a legal expert by news outlets including the Associated Press, Los Angeles Times, Today Show, CNN, Court TV and Fox News.  She was also featured in an hour-long segment of 48 Hours regarding a complex contested adoption matter and on Good Morning America in conjunction with the precedent-setting Abbie Cohen Dorn case.

In the area of community service, Lisa serves on the board of Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization.  Among the honors she has received are the American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts and recognition as one of Southern California's "Super Lawyers in Family Law" and "Top 100 Women Lawyers in California."

Lisa Helfend Meyer graduated from Loyola Law School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She was a member of Phi Delta Phi, the national legal honor fraternity.
