Despite the sub-zero temperatures, there’s something magical about winter wedding photos. If you’re lucky enough to live where there’s been a huge dump of snow, then you can pose with snowmen, take close-ups of snowflakes in your hair, have snow fights with the bridal party and, once the photo shoot is done, head back to a toasty-warm reception venue.

Imagine a cold winter’s evening; candlelight illuminates the reception venue, providing a warm glow, and an open fireplace crackles, providing a cozy atmosphere in which to mingle with your guests. You could even supply marshmallows so guests can toast them in the open flame.

The options are endless if you don’t fancy being just another bride wearing a slim-cut, strapless dress. You could go old-century Victorian and team up your gown with those funky lace-up boots. As it’s the festive season, most churches will already be gussied up with mistletoe, shiny baubles and Christmas decorations, saving you money on decking the halls with boughs of holly. Fa la la la la, la la la la.

Forget the rabbit food; think roast meat smothered with a rich sauce and crispy roasted potatoes with all the trimmings. Leave the tummy-trimming undergarments at home, and wear eating underwear (loose-fitting with an elastic waistband) under your bridal gown so there’s plenty of room for your stomach to expand after a pig-out.
