Australia is renowned globally for its beaches. With 30,000 kilometres of visually-stunning coastline, it is a picture-perfect place to get married. But how do you decide which beach? We break it down with our selection of the top Australian beaches to have your wedding.
Langford Island Beach, Queensland
An uninhabited magical wedding ceremony destination in the Whitsundays, Langford Island Beach is a soft white sand and coral spit surrounded by the tranquil warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Just a 25-minute boat journey from Airlie Beach, it is a tiny slice of heaven on Earth.
Wineglass Bay, Tasmania

One of Tasmania’s most iconic destinations, Wineglass Bay is located in the Freycinet National Park and ranks as one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Its remote location only adds to its stunning beauty. Energetic brides and grooms might like to hike 45 minutes up to the breathtaking lookout, or they can access it by private charter planes or boats.
Froggy’s Beach, Queesland

Sometimes referred to as Froggy’s, Frogs or even Cooly Cove, this secluded part of Coolangatta is right smack bang in the middle of Point Danger and Snapper Rocks. Named after a large green frog painted on the rock over two decades ago, Froggy’s really has become a popular place to hold a wedding ceremony. It’s protected from the wind and offers privacy, unlike many of the populated beaches you’ll find on the Gold Coast.
Pearl Beach and Avoca Beach, New South Wales
One of Australia’s best-kept secrets (okay, maybe not so secret anymore — sorry!) is Pearl Beach on the Central Coast. Like its name suggests, this beach really is a hidden gem. An easy 90-minute drive from Sydney, Pearl Beach is a relatively quiet area and the village restaurants and cafes make gorgeous reception venues.
Also on the Central Coast is another fabulous wedding spot: Avoca Beach. The 1.7-kilometre beach is picturesque no matter what the weather. The northern end of Avoca is more easily accessible by car, however, it tends to get higher waves, so be sure to exchange vows back from the water’s edge.

Cable Beach, Western Australia

Located in Broome, this 22-kilometre sparkling white sand beach gets it name from the Java undersea telegraph cable which reaches shore. It is world-renowned for the paintbox of colour sunsets over the Indian Ocean and you can even make a spectacular bridal entrance on the back of a camel.
Palm Beach, New South Wales

It’s the beach more famously known as Summer Bay — this is where Home and Away and The Bachelor Australia are filmed. A little over an hour from Sydney, this iconic beach is home to Barrenjoey Lighthouse and Keepers Cottage and it boasts a sheltered harbourside with a park area ideal for picnicking.
Twelve Apostles Beach, Victoria

The rugged Southern Ocean is home to majestic rock formations which rise out of the water. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular and it is certainly worth the 4-hour drive along the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne. Sheer limestone cliffs line the beach. Access to the beach is limited to boats, but the rough ocean conditions can make it difficult, however, there are several viewing platforms which provide absolutely amazing views.

Byron Bay, New South Wales

Surfie chicks, rejoice! What more could you want than a choice of beautiful beaches with amazing surf just over an hour from the heart of Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Imagine paddling out to the break with your groom and catching some of the best waves Australia has to offer. The town has a laidback, surfy vibe, with some great restaurants, hotels and cafes for reception venues, not to mention, spectacular views from the Byron Bay Lighthouse.
Turquoise Bay, Western Australia
Possibly one of the most romantic beaches in Western Australia, Turquoise Bay is named for its vibrant blue, pristine waters laden with tropical fish. It is located 60 kilometres south of Exmouth, a 2-hour flight from Perth.
Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands
Named one of Queensland’s most beautiful beaches, Whitehaven stretches 7 kilometres along Whitsunday Island. Renowned for its crystal clear waters and soft squeaky sand, it is one of Australia’s most photographed beaches. Access is via boat from the mainland.
