Ever wondered what goes on in the minds of the beauty industry’s best experts? You’re about to find out! Over the next few months, I’ll be chatting all things fashion and beauty with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Up today? Gilt City Boston’s Senior Curator, Bre Garcia-Dale.
SheKnows: What are your three beauty essentials?
Bre Garcia-Dale: MAC Paint Pot, Vaseline and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer.
SK: Who’s your celeb fashion crush?
BGD: Steven Tyler (No, really — I’m serious).
SK: What’s the best beauty tip you’ve picked up while on the job?
BGD: Obagi Vitamin C serum. A local spa owner turned me on to it. I use it day and night. It’s worked wonders on my skin and is great for unfortunate sun damage!
SK: What are some of your fashion guilty pleasures?
BGD: One of my problems with shopping is that I never have buyer’s remorse or feel guilty! That being said, I’m a sucker for patent leather. From flats to pumps to bags, I just can’t help myself.
SK: Gilt City is all about amazing deals, so we want to know: What’s the last amazing fashion deal you got?
BGD: I made the best purchase of my life on Gilt — and I’m not just saying that because I work there. I purchased a Ralph Lauren couture red silk ball gown at one of our Gilt City Warehouse Sales. It’s the dress of my dreams. There was actually only one dress made that was featured in a fashion show that Gilt worked on to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief. I haven’t worn it yet, but I take it out of the garment bag at least once a week just to look at!!
SK: What’s your favorite stylish spot to hit up in Boston?
BGD: Flock in the South End. I can’t believe I didn’t know about it until I started working at Gilt City. It’s an amazing little boutique and my go-to now for great statement pieces and gifts.
SK: What’s one fashion trend that will never go out of style?
BGD: Jeans and a white shirt (tee or button up). And on the more formal end, pearls and pencil skirts.
SK: We’re all for saving a few bucks. So what fashion items are worth splurging on, and what are you better off saving on?
BGD: You can always find great deals on sundresses and costume jewelry! So save your money and invest in shoes, bags, and most of the time, jeans (every once in a while I fall in love with a cheap pair, but not often).
