Fashion face-off: Nikki Reed vs. Beyoncé in leather shorts

Beyoncé and Nikki Reed are both braving the summer heat in leather. Now for the big question: Who looks better in the tiny leather shorts?

Leather isn’t typically on our list of comfortable summertime fabrics, but Nikki Reed and Beyoncé have us rethinking that with the sleek leather shorts they both wore to recent events.

Reed wore 7 For All Mankind’s Pleated Short in Coated Black ($178), along with a light denim top, during an appearance promoting her new capsule jewelry collection with the brand. Queen Bey, on the other hand, paired her similar pair with a long-sleeved T-shirt at the 10th Anniversary of the Billionaire Boys Club on June 5.

Both celebs worked the look, but we prefer Reed’s dressy-yet-casual style. There’s just something about pairing something dramatic — like the leather shorts and metal necklace — with a casual top, especially during the summer.

The Twilight Saga actress recently teamed with 7 For All Mankind to create a new jewelry collection, now on sale at the retailer’s website. The brunette stunner recently told Teen Vogue that she’s very hands-on with her designs, unlike other celebrity “designers.”

“There’s a story behind every piece — a real meaning behind all of it. I really pulled from what I saw in their look books. The theme of their line is ‘love,’ which is a very consistent theme in my life right now,” she said, referring to her marriage to former American Idol finalist Paul McDonald. “It didn’t feel like it was much of a stretch for me to get in that headspace. I really thought about what was missing from my own wardrobe, and went from there.”

“I hope that when girls see this collection they’ll think, ‘Oh, that will go really well with my favorite necklace that I wear every day!'” she added.
