There’s nothing like wearing a bra that really fits. You don’t even have to go to a lingerie store to have a fitting done — you can do it at home using these simple steps.
No need to pay a visit to your local lingerie store. Take your own bra measurements in just a few minutes.
Put on a bra
You need to be wearing a bra to measure your bust. Pick a comfy one, but one that doesn’t boost your bust size. You want to measure your actual breasts, not the extra padding!
Grab a measuring tape
You’ll need a measuring tape that you can easily wrap around your body. If you don’t have one, find a long piece of string or ribbon. You can cut the string or ribbon and then measure it.
Start with the band size
Measure around your rib cage, just under your breasts in the area where your bra band usually sits. Make sure the measuring tape or string stays level with the ground, not angled up or down. Pull the tape tight so it’s sitting snugly against your rib cage. The measurement you get in inches is your band size. If you don’t come up with an even number, round up. So if you measure 35 inches, your band size is 36.
Measure your cup size
Use the measuring tape to measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Again, it’s important to keep the measuring tape level with the ground. Once you have that measurement, subtract your band measurement from your cup measurement. Once you have your total, each number represents a cup size.
This means that if your band size is 34 and your bust measures 37 inches, you’re a size C (because of the 3-inch difference).
The cup sizes are as follows:
- Less than 1 inch: AA
- 1 inch: A
- 2 inches: B
- 3 inches: C
- 4 inches: D
- 5 inches: DD
