Oprah shows off her “Wild Thang” — a 3.5-pound wig!

Let’s all follow Oprah‘s lead and embrace natural hair!

We spend hours torturing our hair, just to get it to behave, but we’d much rather follow Oprah’s lead. The talk queen is showing off some serious hair in a new cover photo.

“Just revealed this new cover of O, The Oprah Magazine — one of my faves ever — Let’s talk about HAIR! Love this cover so much, I’m making it my new profile pic!” she tweeted, along with the shot of the cover.

That’s one serious wig! The 3.5-pound creation — “the size of a small Chihuahua” — is named “Wild Thang” and came in its own pink case wrapped in bubble wrap.

But inside the magazine, Oprah shows us her natural, shoulder-length strands.

“Women, we have issues with our hair,” she says of why she opted to show off her natural hair.” [Women’s] hair represents the first thing anyone sees of them, or of ourselves, and so we identify with what our hair looks like.”

We love women who are all about showing off their natural hair. The reason? Our hair should be celebrated, no matter if it’s curly, straight, wavy or in-between. Celebrities like Oprah, Solange Knowles and Angela Simmons are leading the way with the natural-hair love, whether they want to or not.

“I’ve never painted myself as a team natural vice president. I don’t know the lingo and I don’t sleep with a satin cap,” Knowles tweeted in 2012. “My hair is not very important to me… so I don’t encourage it to be important to you.”

Simmons also prefers to wear her hair natural.

“I just figured that I didn’t really need it,” she said of why she stopped perming it. “And I did notice that my hair was way thicker without the perm and it just seemed healthier without it and I just didn’t want to put any more chemicals in it. So I just left it alone.”

Oprah says it best: “As much as I enjoyed hanging out with Wild Thang, I know for sure that your true crowning glory comes not from what’s on your head but from what’s in your heart.”
