Rihanna designed another collection for British retailer River Island. The line is out in September, but we’ve got the first look!
Rihanna is really taking the whole fashion thing seriously! The 25-year-old singer is collaborating with British fashion retailer River Island on a third collection for the fall.
The new collection is described as having a “New York Street vibe” for “cool hip girls who aren’t super thin.” The collection is filled with plenty of leather, basketball jerseys, bomber jackets and high-heeled boots. Our favorite part: Some of the pieces — including panties and oversized jerseys — are emblazoned with “G4LIFE.”
Basically, it’s all of what RiRi wears on a daily basis.
All three of her River Island collections are definitely more masculine than girly — a direct reflection of her fashion influences growing up.
“As a little girl, I only ever wanted to wear my brother’s clothes,” she told CompanyMagazine in 2012. “I grew up with my brothers and [male] cousins so it was only when I met my best friend at 14 and discovered fashion magazines that I got into heels.”
“Before that, I always went out in sneakers and pants with a t-shirt rolled up and my cap low. I was never girly,” she added.
Rihanna added to Vogue U.K. that she only got into designing to create the sort of looks she couldn’t find in stores.
“I just wanted stuff that I want to wear because, at the end of the day, that’s what got me into designing, seeing things on the rack that were great, but it could have been a little more ‘me,’ or fit me a little better, or be a little longer, be a little shorter, or have a little more sex appeal, or a little less sex appeal,” she said.
Fans are loving it, too: Her first two collections sold out quickly — and her third will undoubtedly go quickly when it drops on Sept. 14.
