Our favorite summer nail shades

If you are looking for the perfect nail polish for summertime, check out some of our favorites. From bold blues to stunning neutrals and everything in between, you’ll love these sizzling summer shades from the top nail polish collections.

Beach-inspired blue

Whether you are lounging on the sand or stuck in your office, you’ll love beach-inspired shades of blue on your nails. Check out Deborah Lippmann’s On the Beach ($16), a rich Riviera blue, and Mermaid’s Dream ($18), a seafoam glitter. They look great layered together or on their own. You can find both shades online right now at Neiman Marcus. Also check out the Zoya Beach Collection Sampler ($48) for six fabulous beach-inspired shades.

Cream

This summer isn’t all about the brights. Nude and cream shades of nail polish are hot, hot, hot. You’ll love the MAC nail polish collection for Summer 2012, which features 30 (yes, 30!) new or repromoted colors. We love Skin ($16) — a new light peach beige. The MAC summer collection is set to launch on July 5. Also check out the MAC Hey, Sailor collection, which features fabulous shades of red and blue.

Pale green

Mint green is in once again this season. However, some brands are taking their green a little lighter. We love butter LONDON’s Bossy Boots ($14). This shade is a light, opaque pistachio green that offers a fresh take on neutrals. You can snag this shade and other favorites from their Spring/Summer 2012 collection at butterlondon.com.

Neon shades

Neon colors are hot once again this summer, from electric orange to vibrant violet. If you are looking for a sophisticated take on neon, take a look at the Run the World set ($45) from Deborah Lippmann. This set features five mini nail lacquers in amazing, wearable neon shades. These polishes are bold and bright but have a matte finish. Another great find is Avon’s fabulous Nailwear Pro+ Neon range, a bargain at under $4 a shade!

Magnetizing nail color

One of the latest trends in nail polish is magnetizing nail color. The products are infused with metal. After you apply the lacquer, you use a little magnet tool to create unique effects and 3D designs. Check out the limited-edition Magnetic FX collection ($15 each) from ORLY, as well as the Magnetic Nail Lacquer sets ($36 per set — $29 at HSN) from Deborah Lippmann.

Snow White & the Huntsman

Anything and everything related to is sizzling hot for summer. Deborah Lippmann teamed up with Universal Partnerships & Licensing to create a new nail lacquer set inspired by the action-adventure flick. This limited edition set launched on June 1 and features two colors — Prelude to a Kiss, a sheer pink, and Dark Side of the Moon, a deep aubergine. The two hues represent the good and evil struggle. Wear them together or on their own. The Snow White & the Huntsman set ($25) is available now at Nordstrom.
