Oops… even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We’re telling you why Lady Gaga and Vanessa Hudgens‘ fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars’ sartorial slip ups!
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is back with a new album and a new look, natch. The “Applause” singer wore this baggy Balenciaga sweater and pants combo while leaving the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood over the weekend, and her latest look isn’t getting a standing ovation from us. In fact, we’re giving it two thumbs down.
This chunky cracked paint sweater is from Balenciaga’s fall 2013 collection, so why is the singer wearing it in the middle of summer in Los Angeles? Save the cozy turtleneck knits for fall, when it’s in the 50s. Gaga paired her top with black peplum pants, which are also from Balenciaga and look to be about five sizes too big on the petite star. It’s great that she’s lost weight since last year, but please invest in some clothes that fit your new frame.
The final verdict? Mother Monster finished her off-season, ill-fitting ensemble with another no-no: two mismatched shoes. But hey, let’s look at the bright side: At least this repeat Fashion Fail is covered up! The last time we saw her leaving Chateau, she was showing off her bare butt and thong in a see-through bodysuit, so this is an improvement.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens knows you can’t win them all all the time! The former High School Musical starlet isn’t afraid to take style risks, but they don’t always pay off. Case in point: this Temperley London embroidered tea-length dress she wore for WWE’s Superstars for Hope event in Beverly Hills.
First of all, this was a WWE (as in World Wrestling Entertainment) party, not a royal ball. From the sheer long sleeves to the gold embellishments and tulle bottom, this ornate gown just isn’t a good fit for Vanessa’s boho, beachy California cool style. It looks like she’s playing dress up in her grandma’s closet. We think it’d look better on someone older and possibly British, like Dame Helen Mirren perhaps.
The final verdict? We’d also love to know what’s happening with Vanessa’s hair. From the multiple colors in her mane to the bird’s nest-like braided updo, this definitely isn’t our favorite look for her. If you insist on wearing such an elaborate, busy dress, keep your tresses sleek and simple.
