8 Metallic long-lasting eyeshadows

We love that the line’s Millennium 5 Shade Shadow offers some of the hottest colors of the season in one affordable compact. You’ll be able to enjoy metallic tones ranging from subtle white, to warm copper and all the way to blackest black with just one purchase (Frankie Rose, $36).

Don’t be fooled by the subtle color of Pixi’s Antique Gold eyeshadow. It has just the right amount of glimmer for you to swipe across your eyelid during the day, but it can easily transition to night with a slightly darker color applied to the crease. Dot a tiny bit in the corner of your eye to make you look more awake (Target, $14).

We love that Bobbi Brown’s version of metallic shadow is in a cream form for a simple and mess-free application. The creaminess means that it won’t smudge, and that you can layer the color for extra intensity at night (Sephora, $24).

This fun metallic shadow provides a bright silver sheen to your smoky look. Apply it across your eyelid and even into the crease and corners of your eye to illuminate your skin. It’s perfect for a sparkly New Year’s Eve and will last into the early morning (Motives Cosmetics, $13).

We had to include The Body Shop’s Shimmer Cubes for a totally wild and outrageous metallic look. Of course, Shimmer Cubes are available in more neutral shades, but we dig the bright blues and teals of this color palette. You can use the shadow dry, or you can add a dab of water to the palette to create a fierce and bold look for evening (The Body Shop, $22).

The StarLooks line of metallic shadows is one of the most versatile we’ve seen. We like the Greenback shadow for ladies who want a pop of unique color but aren’t so sure about deep violets or blues. The pigment dusts on as a completely loose powder, but you can add to its sticking power by applying a silicone-based primer first. If you opt for a more neutral pigment color, you can mix it in with lip gloss, lotion or powder for an all-over sheen (StarLooks, $17).

Maybe you’re new to this whole metallic trend, and need a little help figuring it out. The Colour Riche eyeshadow compacts have everything you need for all the shades you need to build a complex and smoky eye (Walmart, $8).

We’ve cheated a little bit on this last one. It’s not exactly an eye shadow; rather, you can swipe it over your favorite color to give any shadow a metallic luster. It dries on contact to seal in your favorite shade from morning to night. And if you’re just wanting a little bit of light on your eyes, you can simply wear the top coat by itself (Sephora, $21).
