Tips for adding winter flair to your wardrobe

When it’s cold outside, baby, it’s time to turn up the heat! Instead of playing it safe this winter, spice up your wardrobe with something a bit out of the ordinary, like these five fierce trends.

Rock a rad beanie

Beanies are back and better than ever (and nope, not just on the ski slopes, ladies!). This winter, take a style cue from model Cara Delevingne and every other hip fashion blogger by topping off your cold weather ensemble with a rad beanie. For the more reserved and simple fashionista, start with a solid color, like black, navy or forest green. For those who like to dress outside the box, try a beanie with a crazy pattern or an out-there phrase printed on it.

Do it up in bright faux fur

Faux fur has definitely come a long way in the last few years. And, in our opinion, there’s nothing that makes more of a statement than a beautifully bright furry jacket for winter. There are some great ombre and must-have multi-colored options available that are bound to turn heads. You also can’t go wrong with a bold faux fur coat in your favorite color either. Just remember: confidence is the key to pulling it off.

Sport a pair of velvet overalls

Velvet is by far all the rave this season (as are overalls). Combine the two and what do you get? A street style star in the making, duh! Not only are velvet overalls insanely comfy, they’re super on trend, plus you can pair them with practically anything. Dress them up with platform heels and a semi-sheer blouse for night or play it cool with combat boots and a basic white tee for day.

Let your socks steal the spotlight

Don’t be afraid to let your socks hang out! Whether you’re donning a pair of sky-high heels or bad-to-the-bone combat boots, this season socks are where it’s at, and trust us, they deserve to be debuted. Pair your heels with thin ankle socks (or longer socks scrunched down). As for boots, go with a thicker sock in a neutral hue. Let them barely peek out or make them the main attraction. Either way, it’s a win.

Channel your inner kitten

Leopard print is out, and cats are in! Yep, seriously… This winter, kittens are making an unexpected appearance on practically everything, from necklaces, to tops, leggings, and there are even hats with ears, believe it or not. So get in touch with your inner feline and dare to don a cat-inspired item. You choose your favorite.
