Classic glam gowns at the Golden Globes

Sometimes playing it safe really pays off! While these A-list actresses didn’t take a ton of risks at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, their classic glam gowns still stole the show.

Sure, creative cutouts and open backs abounded at the Golden Globe Awards this year. But one trend that rang true across the board was the abundance of classic glam gowns. From body hugging black dresses to gorgeous gowns with a hint of sparkle, check out all the timeless styles we spotted on the red carpet and, in turn, who wore them.

Leslie Mann looked sophisticated and sexy (as always) in a beautiful black lace peplum gown by Dolce & Gabbana. She accessorized her dress with a black and gold Bottega Veneta clutch and Neil Lane jewelry, of course. A subtle pop of color on her lips added the finishing touch.

Amber Heard was certainly a force to be reckoned with on the red carpet last night. She blew us away in a gorgeous Grecian-inspired, navy blue Atelier Versace gown that hugged her curves in all the right places. Thanks to the big hair and that huge slit up the front of her dress though, her classic look was given a bit of a modern twist.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke wowed onlookers at the Golden Globe Awards with her pretty peplum black and white Proenza Schouler dress in a classic silhouette. We must say, it did fit her like a glove!

Naomi Watts

Actress Naomi Watts dazzled last night in a skin-tight metallic silver Tom Ford dress that featured a few fun cutouts at the sides. When we think of the Golden Globe Awards, a classic glam gown with a modern edge (like this one) definitely comes to mind.

Jessica Chastain is literally the epitome of “classic glam” in this elegant, strapless black gown by Givenchy. It’s simple yet makes a serious statement. We love!
