Oops… even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We’re telling you why Tina Fey and Paula Patton‘s Golden Globes fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars’ sartorial slip ups!
Tina Fey
If you’re gonna dish it, you’ve gotta be able to take it, and no one knows that better than Tina Fey, who hosted the Golden Globes with Amy Poehler. The former Saturday Night Live stars and best friends skewered everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Taylor Swift during the show, so it’s only fair we don’t bite our tongues on this hideous dress Tina wore to walk the carpet earlier that evening.
The 30 Rock actress wore a floral patterned black and red Carolina Herrera princess dress that was all kinds of wrong. Firstly, the red floral print screams Valentine’s Day singles ball, not Golden Globe Awards hostess. The boning and flare of the gown around her hips makes her look unnecessarily large in the hips and midsection. Dress for your body, Tina, not against it!
The final verdict? The train of this strapless dress looks silly and is over the top, and the cut and pattern are just unflattering. But we really loved some of the gowns Tina wore during the show, so she did redeem herself later in the evening, and her jokes were hilarious so the evening was still a success for Ms. Fey.
Paula Patton
Attack of the ruffles! Is Paula Patton punking us? What the fug is this white dress she wore to present at the Globes? Robin Thicke’s wife wore her comforter to the awards show in case she wanted to take a quick nap after she performed during the boring parts of the show.
This gown is from Stephane Rolland’s Spring 2013 collection, and we’re guessing it was inspired by a jellyfish or a box of Kleenex. Without the monstrous ruffle that’s sprouting from her shoulder that continues to her hemline, it could be a nice, form-fitting winter white dress. But that truffle-esque accessory is just killing her entire look.
The final verdict? This ridiculous look is hands down the worst one we saw all night at the Globes. Paula must have been unsure if her dress was a big enough statement on its own, so she added a huge doorknocker diamond ring and massive teardrop blingy earrings just to be sure. You aren’t starring in one of your husband’s music videos, Paula… tone it down already!
