DIY moisturizing lip stain

While we all love a good strong lip, sometimes we crave something lighter for a natural daytime look. Give your lips the perfect flush of color for a beautiful, natural look with this easy to make DIY lip stain. Bonus tip: This lip balm also doubles as a cream blush to give your cheeks a tint of rosy color too.

Ingredients and tools:

  • 1 tablespoon of shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut butter
  • 1 teaspoon of almond oil
  • 5 drops of essential oils to scent (optional)
  • a mineral blush
  • 2-4 small jars
  • glass container
  • pot
  • stove

Instructions:

1. Place the ingredients in the glass container

Place the measured amounts of shea butter, coconut butter, soy flakes, almond oil and essential oils in the glass container.

2. Melting

Fill the pot half-full with water and place the glass container in the pot. Turn the stove on to medium-high to melt the ingredients together. Stir occasionally until the ingredients have all been melted.

3. Making the tint

Using a knife, scrape some mineral blush into a small pile of powder. Pigment in mineral blushes go a long way, so start with a little; you can always add more.

4. Add the tint

Carefully remove the glass container from the stove and add the powdered blush to the solution. Mix well to make sure the blush is completely dissolved. Keep in mind the color of the solution will look slightly darker and more pigmented while it is still in liquid form.

5. Pour into the jars

Pour the tinted liquid solution into the jars.

6. Cool

Let the lip tint cool in the jars. You can also put them in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to help them set more quickly.

7. Use and enjoy

Apply the tinted lip balm to your lips with your finger.
