Fab ways to incorporate pastels into your fall wardrobe

by

Oftentimes when we think of the crisp temperatures of the fall season, we think of toasty warm hues and nubby knits to keep us comfortable. But for 2014, designers have decided to try a totally different concept. Instead of the dark colors we’ve been used to, there is a lighter side of fall making its way onto the scene: pastels.

t

tThis season, all types of frocks, from outerwear to accessories, in every texture imaginable, have been designed with a soft touch of color. At first thought, you may think pastel colors are impossible to pull off during the fall. However, there are ways you can make these light colors season-appropriate. Similar to white, pastel hues can easily be coordinated with just about anything within your closet.

t So, as we transition into fall, you might not want to put away your Summer pastel items just yet. Instead, consider layering your pastel favorites under a new complementary pastel knit, as pictured below. With sweater coats being the latest find of the season, pairing one over a dress is the easiest way to transition into fall. In the case that your coveted warm-weather pastel is a dress, simply make the look weatherproof with a pastel knit cardigan and other soft-toned accessories. With pastels, you never want to go too heavy with colors, which in contrast would drown out the light hues. Keep it light, simple and pretty.

t If you happen to be a fashionista whom has embraced the concept of wearing white after Labor Day, then take your fashion-forward ways to the next level. Simply, tie in a pastel pink with your white jeans of choice and a cozy gray cardigan. To keep the look suitable for fall, try accessorizing with metallic or textured reptile finds.
