Save vs. splurge: Lip Balms

Save/Splurge is back and we’re taking on lip balms. Perfect timing, with the weather getting hot and dry. We’ve got two lovely lip balms for you this week. Check them out below.

Splurge

We’ve been fans of Fresh forever. It all started back when we first tried their Rice Sake Bath and the Brown Sugar Body Polish. But did you know Fresh has something just as indulgent for lips? Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 comes in three varities, all of which smell divine. It’s a staple in gift bags at all the awards shows and frequently shows up in beauty magazines.

We first tried this one at an event for last summer’s film, Eat Pray Love and we haven’t been able to stop using it. It contains real sugar, which keeps the lips smooth. Sweet!

Sugar Lip Treatment is available in Original, which is clear, Rose, which is a pale pink and Plum, which is a sheer raspberry. They’re available at Fresh.com for $23

Our other favorites? Lip balms from Burt’s Bees. We have yet to try a product from this company that we didn’t just love. They have a number of lip products that are fabulous, including their Beeswax Lip Balm. Don’t be surprised if your better half swipes it. (Mine loves it and it frequently disappears out of my purse.)

In addition to beeswax, which seals in lip moisture, they contain coconut oil and peppermint oil, which gives it a lovely tingle. They have balms in a variety of colors and scents. And at the price, they can’t be beat!

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is available at most drug stores and at burtsbees.com for $3.
