We’re back with our weekly Save/Splurge piece! Today we’re taking on hair oil. We’ve got two fantastic products that we love to make our locks shiny and smooth.
Splurge
Neil George Indian Gooseberry Treatment Oil is used by celebrities and celebrity makeup artists. I’ve had clients request this product so often that I always have it in my kit. It contains 20 times the Vitamin C as an orange and it has been used in hair and skin treatments in Nepal and India for centuries. It’s also lightweight, so you won’t have to worry about overdoing it.
Please note, this is best for people with hair on the thicker side. It won’t weigh you down, but do keep in mind that this is oil we’re talking about. If your hair is thin, you might want to try a shine spray instead. I’ve also used this on clients to make their legs shiny, though again, think about where you’re sitting later in the day.
My favorite hidden use? If you forget your nail polish, smooth a little of this on the nails. Not only will it keep them moisturized, it looks like you threw on a clear coat of polish. It also helps smooth down dry skin around the cuticle.
Neil George Indian Gooseberry Treatment Oil retails for $42 and is available at b-glowing.com |

This is one of our favorite beauty products. Adara Virgin Coconut Oil is not only a fair trade product, but you can use it for just about everything. Makeup remover, hair smoother, moisturizer, perfume…no, we’re not kidding! Try going back to your favorite perfume after wearing the Lavender Adara. You’ll get so many compliments that you’ll forget you’re not wearing the expensive stuff.

It comes in five scents, including unscented (which obviously smells like coconut), lavender, peach, green tea and jasmine. Check out the ingredients. There are only two. Please note that because this is a completely natural product, it will go from solid to liquid depending on the temperature.
Adara Virgin Coconut Oil retails for $30 for 8.4 oz. and $12 for 2 oz. and is available at b-glowing.com |
