Welcome to Pretty Little Things, where each week we bring you our picks for the prettiest little things online. If we love it, you’ll be the first to know! This week we look at summer styles that have yet to make it into our closets, and that really have us revved up to do more summer shopping.
More summer shopping
I love shopping for a new season, especially summer. I swoon over the playfully-patterned sundresses, drool-worthy sandals and candy-colored accessories, unable to stop myself from shopping until I (quite literally) drop and need to refuel with an iced latte. And this all happens before June. Now that I’ve worn everything from my first round of hot weather shopping, it’s time for round two – and here’s what I’m coveting.
1. Wedges (Anthropologie, $158), 2. Necklace (Mod Cloth, $60), |
Lace-up wedge
If you’ve read this column before, than you’re likely aware of my love for heels. They have the power to take any outfit from just OK to OMG, plus they make me look taller, which, at just over five feet tall, is a must. I am currently in love with these gorgeous lace up wedges (Anthropologie, $158), with an open toe and vaguely tribal pattern. They’ll look great with everything from cuffed shorts to tea-length skirts.
Shimmery necklace
There’s nothing I love more than to make a statement with one, eye-catching accessory. Why go overboard with three or four pieces when you can get the job done with one? Turn heads in this bold metallic necklace (Mod Cloth, $60). Handmade in Indonesia, this unique piece features individual gold bars, arranged to look like gleaming rays of sunshine – how fitting for summer.
Tribal tote
I’m a firm believer that you can never have enough bags – especially in the summer when it just seems like there’s more to cart around. I was instantly intrigued by this charcoal tribal-patterned bag (Revolve Clothing, $127) with a bohemian vibe that’s perfect for the beach or a summer day trip.
Raspberry cuff
The next time I need to dress up a little black dress or spice up something neutral, I’ll be turning to this candy-hued Marni cuff to do it (Mona Moore, $153). The eye-popping pink accessory is made from brass mesh and looks almost like honeycomb – if honeycomb was the color of vibrant raspberry popsicles.
Open back dress
Summer is all about comfort and stocking your wardrobe with stylish basics that allow you to look good while beating the heat. I can’t wait to wear this simple, wide-neck jersey dress (Shopbop.com, $82) featuring a sexy (and cooling) cutout back. It’s loose and blousy while managing to still looking polished and works well with flats or heels.
Straw trilby
Up until this summer I wasn’t much of a hat person. I wore them on occasion but but I’ve recently come across a couple of styles that made it into a more regular rotation. This straw trilby hat (Top Shop, $45) with a hot pink band around the middle is next on my list of must-have hats. I love the jaunty look of it and can’t wait to use it to give casual outfits a boost.
