Welcome to Pretty Little Things, where each week we bring you our picks for the prettiest little things online. If we love it, you’ll be the first to know! This week we’re looking at all the pretty things you can put in your hair to spice up your look this fall.
Hair helpers
I have a lot of hair. It’s straight, blond and thick and it goes halfway down my back. I know one of these days I’m going to have to cut it short or at least do something a little different, but right now I love it long. As much as I enjoy the length, sometimes all that hair can be hard to manage, which is why I have a collection of hair bands, barrettes and other baubles aimed at taming my tresses and accessorizing those unruly strands. Not to mention the fact that hair accessories are so much fun! Check out my picks for six stylish ways to accessorize your tresses.
Feather hair combFor nights when I feel like dressing up my look with something eye-catching but not over-the-top, I love this vintage-inspired hair comb featuring an engraved feather and a little inset sparkle in the form of diamante stones (Asos.com, $15). |
Decorative bobby pinsI’m really into bobby pins lately as a way to keep my hair out of my face and under control, but sometimes they can feel a bit too plain. Going forward I think I’ll use more decorative bobby pins like this pretty pair with a cream silk bauble on the end (Simply Soles, $12). |
Tiara headbandI’m not about to walk around looking like I’m wearing a princess costume, but I would definitely add this floral tiara headband to my arsenal of hair accessories (bcbg.com, $68) for nights when I feel like going glam. The ornate headband features intricate floral cut-outs covered in rhinestones. |
Metal hair barretteEver since I was a kid, I’ve loved barrettes. They offer a simple yet stylish way to accessorize your hair and add another element to your look. This elegant metal barrette (1928.com, $16) features a raised floral pattern (I can’t seem to get away from florals) and cabochon stone in a rich shade of amber that’s perfect for fall. |
Animal clipPlayful accessories add a dose of whimsy to your look, and I couldn’t resist this Marc by Marc Jacobs hair clip in the shape of a panther, complete with a sparkly rhinestone eye (Zappos Couture, $48). Fun to wear without compromising on style, this is one clip I can’t wait to show off. |
Patent head wrapWearing bows in my hair isn’t something I do often (or at all since the age of six), but this head wrap that fits around your hair like a headband, featuring a structured patent bow, is a sophisticated hair accessory I love (Nordstrom, $38). It comes in red, olive and black and offers an eye-catching way to tame your tresses. |
