Kohl’s launching line inspired by American Idol

American Idol fans rejoice! The hit Fox talent competition is taking a page out of judge Jennifer Lopez‘s book by releasing a Kohl’s clothing collection inspired by the show. Find out when you can get your mitts on these patriotic fashions.

Have you watched American Idol and thought “man, where can I get those clothes?” Yeah, neither have we. However, that’s not stopping the longtime Fox talent competition from creating a fashion line specifically for Kohl’s. The line — Authentic Icon — is a rock ‘n’ roll (and patriotic) ode to the show, according to the creators.

“This launch brings together a national retailer and award-winning television show to create a new collection for customers,” Kevin Mansell, Kohl’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “We are excited to collaborate with American Idol, a leading entertainment platform in pop culture, and are confident this partnership makes Kohl’s an immediate consumer destination this spring.”

Authentic Icon will be in stores starting next month as American Idol’s finalists duke it out on stage. The collection will include tops, dresses and skirts — and we’re sure all of the contestants will be required to tirelessly shill the clothing line both on-air and in commercials.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Kohl’s has teamed up with someone on the show — judge Jennifer Lopez has partnered with the department store for several exclusive fashion lines, including her current JLO by Jennifer Lopez collection.

“I was inspired by movies and music when I was growing up — everything that I saw influenced my style and fashion,” she said of her inspiration for the line. “Even where I grew up, in the Bronx, influenced my style too.”

We like Lopez’s line, but we’re not so sure about the Authentic Icon American Idol collection. We’ll wait to see it on the contestants before we decide to plunk down our cash on a dress or top.
