Boost your energy in 10 minutes or less

If you’re feeling sluggish and can’t seem to find a way to beat fatigue, try one of our favorite, all-natural energy boosting moves. You will be back to feeling sassy, sexy and ready to take on the world in less than 10 minutes.

Get energized!

Have a snack

All snacks are not created equal. The key to conquering afternoon fatigue lies within a snack that offers a combination of complex carbohydrates — like whole-grain crackers — and protein — like low-fat cream cheese or peanut butter. Snacks like candy bars may give you a quick sugar boost, but they are inevitably accompanied by a major energy crash. Healthy protein and carb combo snacks won’t cause a spike in your blood sugar, are digested slowly and provide you with a sustained increase of energy that will last all afternoon.

Get moving

Jumpstart your energy levels by jumping rope or powering through a quick set of jumping jacks. Hit the gym, or if you don’t have time to work out, try taking a 10-minute walk or going for a quick jog. Even just five to 10 minutes of calisthenics in your office may be enough to get your blood pumping and your energy levels flowing.

Take a breather

Sometimes the best way to fight fatigue and boost your energy is by slowing down and taking just a few moments to recharge. Find a way to make taking a mental-five possible. Meditate in your office. Take a 10-minute power nap. Practice a favorite yoga pose or vinyasa. Walk outside and take a few literal breaths of fresh air. Giving yourself a moment to be still can help to revive your senses and boost your energy.

Choose your brew

Caffeine in moderation is a beautiful thing. It works by causing the release of dopamine in your brain, which impacts alertness, problem solving and pleasure. Along with caffeine, green tea and coffee also offer antioxidants — which can also work as energy-uppers. Instead of coffee, try a latte for all of the coffee benefits plus protein to hold you over and boost your energy. If you aren’t a huge fan of the taste of coffee, try a Starbucks Refreshers drink. They’re made from green coffee extract, which comes with all of the natural energy from coffee but with none of the coffee flavor. Another energy-boosting drink: water. Dehydration is the ultimate energy drain, so make sure you have all of the H2O your body needs for peak performance.

Make some noise

Boost your mood and your energy level by breaking the silence. Belt out your favorite song to get your blood pumping and your creative juices flowing. Read a funny story or check out the most recent YouTube sensation for a hearty belly laugh. Have a conversation with a coworker, a friend or family member to energize your mind and body.
