Rupert and Wendi Murdoch’s marriage has reportedly been “irretrievably broken,” for more than six months, his spokesperson told Liana Baker with Reuters. Murdoch married Wendi in 1999, and the couple has two children together. The 44-year-old is 38 years younger than her husband.
Baker reports that the split will probably have no impact on News Corp., which is undergoing significant changes. The company has recently split into two different companies — one for entertainment and one for publishing.

“I doubt it has a substantial impact on the spin,” Gabelli & Co. analyst Brett Harriss told Baker. “Given that it’s his third wife, I see it unlikely that he didn’t plan for this contingency.”
Forbes says Murdoch is worth $11.2 billion, but friends told Baker that the couple had a prenuptial agreement. And Murdoch is in good hands. His attorney has also represented Ivana Trump and Anthony Quinn’s wife during their divorces and is no stranger to celebrity break-ups.
Wendi Deng met Rupert Murdoch in 1998 when she was working for News Corp. They became closer when she acted as his interpreter on a business trip to China. He later divorced his wife of 31 years to be with Deng.
Wendi Murdoch might be best known for protecting her husband from a pie attack in 2011 while he was testifying to the British Parliament about the company’s phone-hacking scandal. According to NBC News, she stayed very involved in her passions after they married and stayed true to her Chinese heritage.

Two of Murdoch’s newspapers, the New York Post and The Sun, are known as gossip papers, but curiously did not have the story on their websites Thursday. According to Baker, the Post did have a link to a partner video with news about the impending divorce, but there was no original story on either site.
