INTERVIEW: Kristen Alderson talks Kiki at 2013 Daytime Emmys

The 2013 Daytime Emmy Awards were full of surprises. One of the biggest was Kristen Alderson’s win for Outstanding Younger Actress. SheKnows spoke to the General Hospital star, who teased what’s next for Kiki Jerome.

Kristen Alderson’s had a crazy year. She went from playing the beloved Starr Manning on One Life to Live to Kiki Jerome aka Lauren Frank on General Hospital. The actress has taken it in stride as she left Starr behind to tackle a new role.

The soap gods couldn’t let nearly two decades of hard work go unnoticed. Early last year, following One Life to Live‘s cancellation, Alderson and several of her cast mates were transplanted to GH. It was there that she received her first Daytime Emmy nomination.

When SheKnows spoke to Alderson, she shared her reaction to the big news. “I definitely celebrated… I went to see the Killers concert that night [and] went to Disneyland the next day but that was already planned out anyway,” she reveals. “We were going to celebrate no matter what happened.”

We’re sure she partied last night as she walked away with the award for Outstanding Younger Actress. Her last performance as Starr beat out Hunter King (The Young and the Restless), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (The Bold and the Beautiful) and former cast mate Lindsey Morgan (General Hospital).

Now that Starr is behind her, Alderson embraces Kiki, whom she describes as “Starr was when Starr was younger, a little more immature.” She says, “Kiki’s spunky and everything Starr used to be that she kind of grew out of.”

What can we expect from Kiki during the coming months? “There’s a bit of information that’s huge, huge, huge that the fans are going to freak out about.”

Woo, we can’t wait to hear it!
