Kanye West tops a monumental month with a beautifully sentimental gift that ties West to the late Steve Jobs as an iconic innovator in his own right.
Kanye West received another lavish gift from girlfriend Kim Kardashian yesterday: a pair of vintage, Apple-computer micesigned by Steve Wozniak and the late Steve Jobs, the company’s iconic founders.

It’s not clear how Kardashian came across the undeniably rare items. West tweeted out the picture of the unique gift on Monday with the caption, “one of the other gifts my girl gave me for fathers day.” The first gift Kanye is referring to? His first child and newborn daughter, North “Nori” West, who was born on Saturday, June 15 — the day before Father’s Day.

Kim’s Father’s Day gift to Kanye is actually beautifully thoughtful. West is a creative genius — an obvious taken even if his ego is cringeworthy. And Kanye West just released his latest album, Yeezus, which seems to be both a commercial blockbuster and a critically-acclaimed body of work. (Seriously, we sense Grammy nominations for West in 2014).
The Apple mice likely represent something far more to Kanye than just a rare artifact to put on display. They are literally symbols of the power of innovation, elements clearly in full effect on Yeezus. Kanye West even channels much of Steve Jobs in the sense that West — a creative and design outlier like Jobs — often recognizes how disconnected he is from the real world.
When the New York Times asked Kanye if he feels like he’s climbed the wall from outsider to insider, West makes it clear he purposefully rejected his former goal of acceptance.
“No, I don’t think I feel [like an outsider] anymore. I feel like I don’t want to be inside anymore. Like I uninvited myself.”

As Kanye West and Kim Kardashian welcomed their first baby, Kim’s gift may just show fans that this couple contradict the typical romantic stereotypes that followed Kim for years.
