Lea Michele breaks Twitter silence over Cory Monteith

Lea Michele just lost her boyfriend, but she still has her fans — and today she thanked them while honoring him.

Her Twitter feed had been silent since the death of her boyfriend Cory Monteith, but today Lea Michele is finally back online and speaking out, however briefly.

The Glee star sent a short message to fans thanking them for their support in her grief and pledging her love to Monteith, whose death was ruled an overdose due to heroin and alcohol toxicity.

“Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support,” she wrote, including a private photo of the couple hugging on a beach with her message. “Cory will forever be in my heart.”

Michele previously spoke about the death only through her publicist, first requesting “that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time,” then revealing that she was spending time with Monteith’s family.

“Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends and fans. Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them,” the actress’ rep said in a statement to People magazine.

“They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”

Michele was present at the memorial held for Monteith by the cast and crew of Glee last week.
