10 Things you don’t know about Teen Choice nominee Anna Kendrick

Super-cool Anna Kendrick is that chick we all want to hang out with for an afternoon (or, like, forever). Since we can’t get enough of the Teen Choice nominee, we unearthed 10 surprising tidbits about her. Did you know…

1. She’s been ballsy since about 10 years old

Although, really, we suspect she’s been ballsy since birth. But it was at the age of 10 that Anna hopped a bus from her hometown of Portland, Maine, to New York City to attend auditions. Uh, yeah… we were probably doodling in our notebooks during fourth-grade social studies at that age.

2. She was the second-youngest Tony Award nominee ev-er

We’ve all fallen in love with Anna on the big screen, but she actually started her career with a bang on Broadway. Her turn as Dinah in High Society earned the then 12-year-old a Drama Desk Award, a FANY Award, the Drama League and Theatre World Award — and, of course, that record-holding Tony nod.

3. She and Adam Lambert are thick as thieves

We weren’t even aware Anna Kendrick and Adam Lambert knew each other, but apparently the two are total besties. “I’ve known Adam since I was 18, actually,” Anna told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. “He’s a good time — he’s fun. He’s a really, really fun dude.”

4. She’s kind of overwhelmed by Hollywood hullabaloo

Most celebrities snatch up any chance to walk down a red carpet, but Anna actually opted to skip the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony in 2011 because she felt so beleaguered by the whole ordeal the previous year when she was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role forUp in the Air.

5. She was the only choice to play her Up in the Air part

A fact he only revealed to Anna after she auditioned and got the role, director Jason Reitman knew from the onset of Up in the Air that he would only be happy with Anna in the role of Natalie Keener. She apparently won him over with her performance in Rocket Science in 2007.

6. She’s got self-image issues just like us, ladies

There are plenty of actresses in Hollywood who claim they don’t see themselves as attractive… but we don’t really believe them. Coming from Anna though, it seems totally sincere. “OK, I am happy with the way I look, but I have never, never, ever thought of myself as a ‘pretty girl,’” she says. “Honestly. When I read some of these scripts I’m sent and they describe the heroine as ‘incredibly beautiful,’ I wonder why they sent it to me.”

7. She fraternized with Fraggles

How, you ask? Well, she made a cute, funny — that’s kind of her thing, huh? — cameo in Ben Folds Five’s music video for “Do It Anyway.” This ups her cool credo in our books a ton because (1) we love Ben Folds and (2) we loved Fraggle Rock!

8. She embraces her nerdy Lord of the Rings obsession

When Anna says she has a huge Lord of the Rings thing, she isn’t kidding — every year, she watches a marathon of the extended editions. That is a serious time commitment, people… it’s, like, fan club fanatical. We should know… we do it too.

9. She’s a fan of facial hair

Some women like their men clean-shaven. Anna Kendrick is not one of those women. The first thing the self-proclaimed “beard girl” did at the End of Watch premiere was give co-star Jake Gyllenhaal a little chin tickle. “When I saw him at the premiere, the first thing I did was scratch his beard,” she told NextMovie.com.

10. She’s got a Taco Bell habit

“I love Taco Bell,” Anna spilled on Conan, elaborating, “It’s a secret… It’s a dirty thing that I love Taco Bell so much. I cannot, cannot eat Taco Bell before midnight. It’s like a reverse Gremlins thing.” Don’t worry, Anna. We’re closet Crunchwrap Supreme fiends.
