Lucy Hale and Darren Criss seemed like the perfect choice to host the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. So did they pull it off, or did they “Anne Hathaway/James Franco” it?
Lucy Hale and Darren Criss hosted the 2013 Teen Choice Awards Sunday night, Aug. 11, and they were a good choice for the part. But they started out a little shaky.
Their introduction seemed a little awkward, but the fans were happy to see both the Pretty Little Liars actress and the Glee actor, and their chemistry grew as the night went on.

The star power of Hale and Criss carried the show, even if the actors themselves showed that they have never done anything so big before. Each time they appeared onstage or in the crowd, the two actors appeared to be reading the monitor intently.
At one point, the duo went into the crowd and talked to a few celebrities, including Jane Lynch.
When Criss asked the actress what her favorite Pretty Little Liars episode was, she responded, “I’ve never heard of it.”
After the first 30 minutes, Hale and Criss returned only to announce performers and presenters. There were many costume changes, and they often attempted humor (and sometimes pulled it off).
Hale also returned to talk about a cause close to her heart: getting teens to stop texting and driving. She said she had taken the pledge and was hoping others would take the pledge as well.

As the show was wrapping up, the hosts were onstage to help facilitate a new world record for twerking. The audience (mostly) complied, and the record was set.
Despite Hale and Criss’ limited appearances, they were seen quite a bit more than most award show hosts are, and they did add to the show. They both looked hot all night and were definite eye candy.
Even though it doesn’t seem like the two knew each other before stepping out onstage the first time, they did their best to make it a memorable evening.
