Mumford and Sons has done more for music than reintroduce us to the bass-drum driven, banjo strummin’, ‘hey, ho!’ chantin’ music that we just can’t help but clap to. They’ve seemingly inspired many others to create folk bands of their own. Here are six you must listen to.
The Head and the Heart
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, this indie folk-pop band is comprised of Josiah Johnson, Jonathan Russell, Charity Rose Thielen, Chris Zasche, Kenny Hensley and Tyler Williams.
Father John Misty
I saw Joshua Tillman (Father John Misty) at Coachella earlier this year, and let me say: The man can rock some white pants and put on one hell of a show. His album “Fear Fun” is addicting.

Wild Child
With just one album under their belt and another (The Runaround) scheduled for release Oct. 8, this band from Austin, Texas has two of the dreamiest voices in the pop-folk music scene. They have the musical and playful chemistry of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward of She & Him and Alex Ebert and Nora Kirkpatrick of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

Shovels & Rope
Equal parts rock ‘n roll and folk, Shovels & Rope’s single “Hail Hail” combines the sexy, rock vibe of The White Stripes and the funk and swagger of The Black Keys, specifically of that found in their album Brothers.

The Haunted Windchimes
This five-some Colorado band boasts traditional folk and American roots music. So traditional, in fact, they use an instrument one would be hard-pressed to find on a stage these days: an upright bass that will give you that full, hoedown sound that’ll get your toes tappin’ and your head bobbing.

I’m sure you’ve heard of these gals before. From Stockholm, Sweden, Johanna & Klara Söderberg have taken off since the duo’s YouTube video cover of Fleet Foxes’ “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” went viral in 2008.
