David Cassidy arrested for a DUI

Former teen idol David Cassidy found himself in trouble on Wednesday morning when he was arrested for driving under the influence. It’s his second charge.

Sometimes you just can’t make these things up. Former teen heartthrob David Cassidy was arrested early on Wednesday morning by Tom Jones for blowing a .10 during a field sobriety test.

Of course, that was Officer Tom Jones in Schodack, a town in upstate New York, who arrested the singer. District Attorney Richard McNally revealed that when the officer approached Cassidy’s car, the 63-year-old singer said, “What’s up, pussycat?” in reference to Jones’ famous song “What’s New Pussycat?”

Cassidy was pulled over by police for driving with his high beams on when he approached the DUI checkpoint. According to TMZ, driving with your high beams on is a dead giveaway to cops that a driver might be intoxicated.

The cops decided to administer the field sobriety test which the former Partridge Family star failed. Once he blew a level over the legal limit, Cassidy was arrested.

This isn’t the first time he’s has been arrested for a DUI. He was charged with driving under the influence back in November 2010 in Florida. At the time, he pleaded not guilty and had his license suspended for six months. Cassidy also performed 50 hours of community service, served a year of probation, attended traffic school and paid a $500 fine.

Due to his prior record, Cassidy now faces a felony drunk driving charge.

He has been released on $2,500 bail and the police chief said the entertainer “was a gentleman.”

Cassidy is due back in court in September.
