Warner Bros. is done playing nice. It is pulling out the big guns for its Man of Steel sequel. After weeks of speculation, the studio has finally announced who will star alongside Henry Cavill. On Thursday evening, Warner Bros. announced that two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck had landed the role. Yes, as in the same Affleck who played in Daredevil and was rumored to be directing the Justice League movie.
According to Zack Snyder, who will return to direct the film, “Ben provides an interesting counterbalance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

In the studio’s official press release (via Deadline), it promised, “Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character.”
In terms of age, the studio didn’t stray too much. Affleck is only two years older than Bale. We wonder if he’ll get the full-on grandpa treatment Bale received in The Dark Knight Rises.
