Will Charlie Hunnam dominate in Fifty Shades of Grey?

Universal Pictures is desperately seeking actors for Fifty Shades of Grey. Their latest casting net has drawn two blue-eyed prospects. One is the star of a cult TV show, while the other’s a member of a Hollywood dynasty.

It’s another day paired with another Fifty Shades of Grey rumor. A new duo’s been linked to the upcoming drama based on E.L. James’ steamy book. This time, all eyes are on Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam and Ben and Kate’s Dakota Johnson.

They’re being looked at for the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. But according to The Guardian, Hunnam’s reps deny that he’s attached to the film. Meanwhile, sources close to the project told Variety that no casting decisions have been made at this time.

Hunnam’s still on the list of possible contenders, he just hasn’t landed the job. Universal Pictures and Focus Features are searching high and low for the right actors. But time isn’t on their side. Fifty Shades of Grey is scheduled to hit theaters in Aug. 2014 and they haven’t even started production.

Luckily, they’ve already nailed down a director in Sam Taylor-Young. But that means nothing if they can’t find actors brave enough to tackle the parts. Fifty Shades of Grey centers on a young naive woman, who enters a BDSM relationship with a domineering billionaire. To say it became a pop cultural phenomenon would be an understatement.

Previous stars rumored for the film include Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder, Armie Hammer and Emma Watson.
