Charlie Sheen is singing a different tune about the firing of Selma Blair from Anger Management. He explains the new truth to Jay Leno.
Back in June, the press went into a frenzy over the firing of Selma Blair from Charlie Sheen‘s show Anger Management. Reportedly, the actress complained to producers about the FX star’s work ethic on set. When Sheen heard about her issues with him, he pressured the studio to fire her.
Yet months later, the volatile actor seems to be singing a different tune. On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday, the 48-year-old explained Blair’s departure.

“One of our primary characters, Selma Blair, playing Kate, was written out because — it was not about our relationship. The problem was that too many people were still excited about the Two and a Half character and thinking the Anger Management character was a little dull. So that is not the case anymore.” Sheen said. “She leaves and I… start circling the drain. It’s really fun to watch. And… fun to play.”
Leno quipped back, “Where do you draw from?”
Sheen replied, “It’s [a] mystery, Jay. It just falls out of the sky.”
The dad of five insists that his show is undergoing a “reboot” this season and he considers it “Anger Management 2.0.”

Now his character Charlie Goodson is free to self-destruct, just like the real-life Charlie Sheen.
In addition to Blair’s exit, there have been other cast changes. Brian Austin Green has become a series regular and Laura Bell Bundy is joining the cast for the refreshed show.
Is Sheen’s story believable? It’s hard to tell given the drama that happened last June, but it seems like the story he told Leno is the new truth.
