Last season recaps for TV’s biggest premieres

Before the new season of your favorite television series gets rolling, relive all the juicy finales from last season with our recaps. If you missed last season’s hottest shows, catch up on Netflix before this season’s premieres.

House of Cards

The debut season of House of Cards captured our attention immediately and held it through all 13 of the season’s episodes. In the final episode of the season, we know now that Frank Underwood is a murderer who has been gunning for the position of vice president all along and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. And by the end of the episode, he does indeed get offered, and accepts, the nomination for vice presidency. We also get a glimpse into Claire’s personality beyond the stone-cold exterior that was presented in the first few episodes.

Orange Is the New Black

Netflix’s original series captured our attention with its edgy debut season, and we’ve been waiting with bated breath for season two, which is currently being filmed. The final episode of season one shocked us by showing us a totally raw and tough new side of Piper. When attacked by Pennsatucky, viewers may have predicted that Piper was going down — but she didn’t. Piper turned the tables on Pennsatucky, gaining control of the fight and ultimately pummeling Pennsatucky blow after blow. In season two, we’re pretty sure inmates will think twice before messing with Piper.

New Girl

Season two’s finale of New Girl did not disappoint! The show finally gave viewers what we’ve been hoping for — a romantic make-out session (in a parking lot, no less) between quirky Jess and Nick. (Cue the romantic love song.) Cece dumping Shivrang at the altar and Elizabeth and Cece forcing Schmidt to choose between them rounded out the big wows of the season finale. Season three begins on Sept. 17.

Scandal

Jaws dropped during Scandal‘s season two finale when it was revealed that Rowan, the B613 boss who has been threatening Cyrus and giving Jake his orders, is actually Olivia Pope’s own father. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, told Entertainment Weekly that she wanted to make Rowan Olivia’s dad as a way to explain why she has such man issues, as well as to reveal more about her life and why she makes the bad decisions that she does.
