Fame has its negative aspects, as Jennifer Lawrence found out recently when accused stalker Han Cong Zhao claimed he believes he is her “husband for life.”
Being in the public eye comes with its share of problems, one being obsessed fans!
Jennifer Lawrence was unfortunate enough to find herself having an accused stalker, who will now remain in police custody until his trial begins.
Han Cong Zhao, 23, from Vancouver, British Columbia, was arrested in April after continuously harassing the Oscar-winning actress’ brother, Blaine Lawrence.
Zhao is accused of sending countless emails and text messages, and making more than 200 phone calls to Blaine in which he claimed he was meant to be Blaine’s sister’s “husband for life.” Creepy!
Zhao allegedly tried to conceal his identity and location by using computer programs, but took it a step further and turned up the heat when he arrived in Lawrence’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, on April 18, and continued to contact Blaine.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, FBI Special Agent Richard Boswell III wrote in an affidavit that, “Zhao had first begun contacting ‘B.L.,’ who is identified in a related state court record as the actress’ brother Blaine Lawrence, on April 4 of this year.”
“Lawrence received numerous phone calls and text messages from Ted on his work cell phone at 2am. ‘Ted’ was later identified as Han Cong Zhao”, Boswell wrote.
Zhao was quoted as telling Blaine, “Either I find out, or you come and see me, OK?”
“You got me really upset. When I’m, when I’m upset, let’s see what happens, alright?”
These strange messages and very creepy behavior alerted Jennifer that the man could be not only a danger to herself, but also to her family, and that if he were released on bail he may flee back to his native China.
On Wednesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Dave Whalin, concluded after a two-hour hearing in Louisville that Zhao “presents a danger” to TheHunger Games star.
According to The Huffington Post, the judge said, “Mr. Zhao has no connections here and apparently not strong connections in Canada. The evidence is strong. He presents a danger.”
While the actress has previously claimed that fame made her a homebody, we’re sure she will want to be home alone any time soon given this recent ordeal!
Zhao will reappear before a federal grand jury by mid-October and has been charged with interstate stalking and repeated harassing phone communications. Yikes!
