Who’s hotter: Chris Hemsworth vs. Liam Hemsworth

Parks and Recreation actress and comedian Mara Marini puts two of the hottest brothers in Hollywood head-to-head in our weekly debate and asks you to decide: Who’s hotter?

Chris Hemsworth

The middle of three boys (yes, three… there’s another hunky Hemsworth out there named Luke), Chris Hemsworth was born on Aug. 11, 1983, in Melbourne, Australia, to an English teacher mother and a social services counselor father. His family spent a lot of time in the Outback and he has vivid memories of working on his aunt and uncle’s farm with crocodiles and buffalo. Chris got his start playing Kim Hyde on a popular Australian soap opera, Home and Away, and five years later he was playing James Kirk’s father in the American blockbuster Star Trek. Talented, toned, tall and handsome, he quickly made his mark on Hollywood.

Liam Hemsworth

Born Jan. 13, 1990, Liam Hemsworth is the baby of the Hemsworth clan. An avid surfer, he considered following in his brother’s footsteps by acting in school plays and after laying floor for six months, attended his first audition at the age of 16. He guest-starred on Home and Away and recurred on Neighbours before landing big roles in America. Just like Chris, he got his start in soap operas, he’s charismatic, tall (an inch taller than Chris, to be exact) and rocks a hot six-pack (the family has very good genes). It will be hard to choose your favorite between these buff brothers.

Talent

Chris Hemsworth: Chris has a wide range (and I’m not just referring to his broad shoulders) — from Thor (he actually beat out his younger brother, Liam, for the role) to Star Trek to The Huntsman, he’s proved he isn’t just a pretty face. Up next, you can see him starring in Ron Howard’s new film, Rush, playing Formula 1 Driver James Hunt.
Liam Hemsworth: He may have lost out on Thor to Chris, but Liam is doing just fine for himself. He played a paraplegic on Neighbours; a soldier in the war dramaLove and Honor; an aspiring robber in Empire State with Dwayne Johnson; worked alongside Harrison Ford in Paranoia and is now a big part of The Hunger Games franchise.

Lifestyle

Chris Hemsworth: As busy as he is, he definitely finds ways to make time for his new family. He claims he wanted children for a long time and that “having a baby has made everything else less important, and it’s just wonderful.”
Liam Hemsworth: Not quite as settled as his big bro, he likes to go out and party a bit. But he’s only 23 and isn’t married with child. He claims 90 percent of his best friends are from back home and they consist of “plumbers, electricians, builders or landscapers.” So he hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from.

Fitness

Chris Hemsworth: The surfer boy bulked up and put on 20 pounds of muscle for Thor with intense training and a lot of healthy food intake. When not on his “Thor regime,” he still regularly hits the gym and plays plenty of sports.
Liam Hemsworth: Chiseled physiques seem to run in the family. But for The Hunger Games, he said he wanted to have a sense of hunger, physically and mentally, like his character had. With the help of a former Navy Seal trainer and a strict diet, he dropped 20 pounds for the role. When he isn’t on the “Gale Hawthorne regime,” he has a very relaxed approach to fitness, hitting the gym 3 to 4 times a week and just eating healthy, with the occasional splurge.

Kindness

Chris Hemsworth: Chris is an ambassador for the Australian Childhood Foundation, a charity that his father is involved in.
Liam Hemsworth: Also an ambassador for the Australian Childhood Foundation, Liam acknowledges that it’s important to give back.

Pets

Chris Hemsworth: Between promoting two films releasing this year, filming another one that will release next year and being a new father? No time for pets just yet.
Liam Hemsworth: Liam and Miley Cyrus shared a dog, Ziggy. Unfortunately, Ziggy grabbed Cyrus’ other little dog, Lila, too hard and Lila died. In turn, they had to give Ziggy away. Liam has no pets of his own.

Intelligence

Chris Hemsworth: He attended Heathmont Secondary College.
Liam Hemsworth: Liam went straight into acting after high school.

Commitment

Chris Hemsworth: A hopeless romantic, Chris dated a Home and Away cast mate from 2005 to 2006, and in early 2010 he was introduced to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky through their agent. The couple married later that year and now have a daughter, India. Chris wears a necklace with his wife’s phone number engraved on it. Could he be any cuter?
Liam Hemsworth: Liam began dating Miley Cyrus while filming The Last Song together in 2009. They’ve been on again and off again several times over the past few years, but officially broke up last week. On Sunday, Cyrus started crying during her first performance after their breakup. Days after their split, Liam was seen all over a telenovela actress. Not cool, Liam. Take some notes from Chris in this department.
