Talent: Is it luck or are you born with it? These famous siblings prove it might just run in their veins.
You know that line about the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree? Celebrities often have equally famous children. Sometimes, though, the apples fall right beside each other and celebrities who come from nowhere end up with equally hot, talented siblings. We’re not talking about siblings whose parents turned their cuteness into a marketing ploy or rich siblings who are famous for being rich. We’re talking about two or more people with genuine talent who just happen to share DNA.
Take, for instance, Briana Cuoco. The sister of The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco is making quite the splash this week. It turns out Briana recently auditioned for The Voice. So far, we haven’t seen her big singing debut and the beautiful brunette is keeping mum on how far she made it. But we can’t wait to find out. And it turns out that singing isn’t her only talent, either. She’s also had a few guest spots on shows like The Newsroom and her sister’s show, TBBT.
Kaley and Bree aren’t the only mutually talented siblings, though. There are plenty others.

The Gyllenhaals

It must be a bit hard for Maggie Gyllenhaal. She’s a superb actress who’s appeared in movies like the super-sweet Will Ferrell film Stranger than Fiction and the award-winning Crazy Heart. And she’s beautiful. But it’s her brother Jake who gets most of the attention. After all, he’s freaking gorgeous. Nothing beats watching him dance around in a Santa hat in Jarhead. Bonus: Both these apples fell pretty close to the tree of their famous director father, Stephen Gyllenhaal.
The Sheen/Estevez family

No family of men is quite as eerily similar-looking as Martin Sheen and his two sons, Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. Our favorite Martin Sheen role was, of course, as President Bartlet on The West Wing. His sons may have surpassed him in their fame, though. In the ’80s, Emilio was a member of the Brat Pack and starred in movies like St. Elmo’s Fire and The Breakfast Club. Later, he went on to do the Mighty Ducks franchise. Meanwhile, his brother Charlie, the proverbial train wreck waiting to happen, also saw early fame in the ’80s. He appeared in over a dozen movies during that time, including Red Dawn and Young Guns. The Deschanels

Sure, Zooey Deschanel is the younger, princess-voiced one. But, let’s not forget that she also has an insanely talented sister, Emily Deschanel, who has spent a million and a half (read: nine) seasons playing the quirky and intelligent title character on Bones. Among her main acting credits, Emily was also in Cold Mountain and My Sister’s Keeper.
The Phillips sisters

We all fell in love with Bijou Phillips in Raising Hope, but do you remember her role as the groupie Estrella Starr in the quasi-rock doc Almost Famous? It was definitely one of her breakout roles. She plays that musical, effervescent role so well because she comes from a similar kind of family. Her sister Chynna Phillips was in the band Wilson Phillips (the Wilsons are another talented set of siblings) and her sister, Mackenzie, has appeared in a slew of TV shows and movies, including Criminal Minds, NYPD Blue, and the short-lived series So Weird. They were all the daughters of John Phillips from The Mamas & The Papas.
There are actually plenty of other uber-famous siblings, like the Olsens or the Kardashians. Who can forget that the ditzy dude on Rules of Engagement, Oliver Hudson, was Kate Hudson’s brother? Or remember the once incredibly famous Haley Joel Osment? Now it’s his sister, Emily, who is making a splash in the industry. It seems like non-famous people are always trying to chalk up celebrity to hype or good luck. Maybe, though, it’s just something that runs in the blood.
