CeeLo Green is fighting a very serious charge in Los Angeles County Court. Although he scored a victory on Monday, The Voice judge is still facing years behind bars.
CeeLo Green could be facing some serious prison time after being accused of providing a woman with a controlled substance. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced Monday that they would be prosecuting the singer for giving a woman ecstasy, according to Rolling Stone.
Green had also been facing a more serious charge of rape, but the D.A.’s office found there wasn’t sufficient evidence to prosecute.

The case stems from an incident last summer that began at a restaurant in downtown Los Angeles.
Green “allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant sometime between July 13 and July 14, 2012,” the prosecutor said in a statement. “The two later went back to the woman’s hotel,” and she said she later woke up naked next to Green.
The alleged victim reportedly taped a conversation with Green later where she tried to get him to admit to the crimes, and he supposedly apologized.
The case has been following Green since it allegedly happened last summer, and last November, a rep for the singer said the claims were “despicable, untrue and deeply hurtful to CeeLo.”
After the charges were dropped on Monday, Green’s lawyer said, “We are pleased that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claims made over a year ago. Mr. Green encouraged a full and complete investigation of those claims and he was confident, once conducted, he would be cleared of having any wrongful intent and it would be established that any relations were consensual,” according to CNN.

He added that Green plans to “responsibly address” the remaining charge.
Although the Green team considers the dropped charge a victory, the felony drug charge has to still be on their radar. If convicted, he could spend up to four years in prison. He is due back in court on Nov. 20.
