Northern Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan has been confirmed as the new leading man for Fifty Shades of Grey, and E.L. James is thrilled with the choice.
Fifty Shades of Grey is heating back up again, because it finally has a new leading man.
After the exit of Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam — who reportedly dropped out due to the overwhelming pressure of the role and the fans’ disappointment with the casting— from the role of sadomasochistic billionaire Christian Grey, speculation started as to who would become the next Christian Grey.
Jamie Dornan was penned as being the front-runner for the role by British newspaper The Telegraph, and it appears they were right, because the Northern Irish actor has officially been welcomed to the team.
British author E.L. James took to Twitter to express her delight that Dornan would be tackling the role from her bestselling trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey.
E.L. tweeted, “Stow your twitchy palms ladies… our man is here. Welcome to #TeamFifty @JamieDornan1 x (sic)”

If you are unfamiliar with Dornan, then you will be in for a treat. His acting debut came in 2006, when he was cast opposite Kirsten Dunst in Marie Antoinette. He has also starred in the British thriller series The Fall and as The Huntsman in Once Upon a Time.
He also has a steady celebrity following, including Girls star and creator Lena Dunham, who has expressed her excitement about the casting.
Dunham jokingly tweeted, ”I’m a monstrous @JamieDornan1 fan. Wasn’t allowed to be attracted to him on The Fall bc he played a sexmurderer. 50 Shades is my big chance! (sic)”

Then she added, “Wait, Christian Grey isn’t a murderer right?”

Bronagh Waugh, who plays Dornan’s on-screen wife in The Fall, was overjoyed by the news and tweeted, “I think my onscreen husband @JamieDornan1 has just landed THE biggest role of the CENTURY!!?! How will I ever be naked with him again?!!!”

Another actress who is pleased with the choice is The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, who shared her views on Instagram and wrote, “I’ve had a crush on Jamie Dornan for a decade!”
Many women around the world share Banks’ sentiments, and Dornan will surely provide some serious eye candy and onscreen chemistry, cast opposite his lover Dakota Johnson as the naïve Anastasia Steele.
