Joe Jonas slams “ridiculous” drug rumors

Joe Jonas is denying the rumors that his alleged drug habit is the real reason behind the demise of one of the biggest boy bands of all time.

Is Joe Jonas a raging drug addict whose need for speed and other narcotics fuel the breakup of The Jonas Brothers? Hogwash, he says.

While the rumors persist that Nick Jonas is taking the fall for the band’s demise as a cover for his brother’s drug habit, Joe is slamming the stories as “ridiculous” and is super-ticked off that his girlfriend, Blanda Eggenschwiler, has been dragged into the mess.

“It’s ridiculous!” he told People magazine. “We’re not saying anything for two or three weeks and I’m a drug addict!”

“It’s obviously not true. I’ve never touched heroin in my life. Neither has my girlfriend,” he said. “It’s hilarious to me, but also frustrating as well. It pissed me off when it’s about my girl and even about myself.”

So many people believe the rumor that fans are now stopping him in the street to wish him a speedy recovery.

“I was walking down the street and people are asking me if they can give me a hug and how rehab is,” says Joe. “I’m like, ‘You tell me, because I’ve never been.'”

So why the delay between canceling their tour and the band officially calling it quits?

“We all had to deal with it in our own way,” Joe explained. “I needed time to clear my head.”

The first whispers of Joe’s drug use arose in 2011 when he was allegedly spotted smoking pot inside a club in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City. Star magazine recently reported that his drug use had gotten much, much worse, though.

He’s been dealing with substance abuse issues for quite some time,” a source told Star magazine. “The tour would have never survived with how Joe was behaving.”

“At this point, Nick and Kevin don’t care what is going on with the band, they just want to see their brother healthy,” the source added. “They’ve had discussions with Joe about their fears for him and the importance of getting help.”

Joe’s publicist has steadfastly denied the accusation, and now he has finally added his own voice.
