This Veterans Day, we pause to reflect upon and honor the brave men and women of the U.S. military. The movies have long celebrated this country’s heroes and while there are countless examples of movie scenes that portray events that make us proud to be Americans, we’ve hand-selected a few of our favorite military bada****. (Note: These clips are NSFW.)
Heartbreak Ridge
Clint Eastwood built a career on portraying bada****, both as Dirty Harry and as a military leader — usually a Marine. We love Eastwood’s characters — he’s the guy you call when you want to get s*** done. It’s hard to pick our favorite Clint Eastwood/military hero clip, but we loved his role in Heartbreak Ridge where he’s tasked with the unfortunate duty of whipping a bunch of misfits into butt-kicking Marines.

A Few Good Men
How can you possibly have a list of favorite military bada**** without including Jack Nicholson’s Colonel Jessup from A Few Good Men? Let’s face it. Deep down in places we don’t talk about at parties, we want a few good men on that wall, we need them on that wall. It just doesn’t get any better than Jessup’s Stage-5 meltdown under oath. Bonus feature: Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon and Jack Nicholson all in uniform. Almost a bit more than one gal can handle.

The Patriot
Sure, we were seduced into watching The Patriot because of the eye candy — Mel Gibson (before he got all angry and weird) and Heath Ledger (before he passed), but this story tore at our hearts for a different reason. The acting in The Patriot is phenomenal, and it shows the lengths a father is willing to go to protect his family and country. Pass the tissues, please.

Inglorious Basterds
Because we were trying to bring you a bit of a two-fer with this feature — celebrating Veterans Day by profiling some of our favorite movie men in uniform (who also happen to be easy on the eyes), this list had to include Brad Pitt. His hard-a**, redneck character, Aldo Raine in Inglorious Basterds, all at once thrills and terrifies us. Aldo Raine pushes the boundaries of what every woman wants — a guy who’s willing to do anything to get the job done.
Top Gun
Remember how we fell in love with Maverick… and then we grew up? While we still love the military theme of Top Gun, we could have done without the really cheesy lines and love story. So we picked the scene we can all agree was the best — the volleyball scene. You’ll find the money shot at 1:00 in this video. While Maverick and Goose’s high-fives on the back-side get a little old after a while, it’s hard to beat hot guys playing volleyball while Kenny Loggins blares in the background.
