Cobie Smulders tackles the role of a New York City cop who gets pregnant by her loser boyfriend. SheKnows sat down with Cobie to find out why she wanted to play such a conflicted character.
SheKnows: What attracted you to a role such as this?
Cobie Smulders: Well, I really loved the story, dealing with the different family dynamics and dynamics within relationships, and I was really interested to play a New York City cop. She was very tough and very stubborn. She’s in this relationship with this guy who’s a lovable underachiever, and she loves him, but she keeps trying to get him to change. And then a situation comes up where she gets pregnant and then forces the ultimatum on him and says, “Listen, you gotta get your life together or we’re done,” and she gets to see him change. It was interesting to me to play a conflicted character.
SK: So what was it like working with two extremely funny men, Chris Pratt and Vince Vaughn.
CS: Yes, well, I didn’t get to do any scenes with Chris Pratt, which is just a bummer because he’s just the nicest man. Most of my scenes were with Vince, and it was really fun.

SK: You started your career as a model. You’ve done television and also movies. Do you prefer one or the other?
CS: I mean, it really depends on the project. Obviously, I’ve loved being on How I Met Your Mother for the last nine years, but doing projects like this is really fun as well. I don’t really have a preference either way at the moment.
