Miranda Lambert slams tabloids over surgery claims

Miranda Lambert showed up at the 2013 CMA Awards earlier this month looking very different, but the queen of country is now firing back at critics who are saying her weight loss was caused by surgery.

Miranda Lambert showed up at the CMA Awards earlier this month with a noticeably slimmer figure. The singer said she started thinking about her health, so she decided to live a healthier lifestyle. But not everyone bought that explanation, and Lambert took to her website on Monday to set the record straight.

“Though I never care what the tabloids have to say about me… I wanted to address this certain story they are running this week and set the record straight. I did not have surgery to lose weight,” Lambert explained. “That is ridiculous. I lost my weight the healthy and good old-fashioned way. Watching what I eat and working out with my trainer, Bill Crutchfield.”

Lambert talked with E! News at the CMA Awards about her sudden motivation to lose the weight, and her impending birthday turned out to be the biggest factor.

“You know what, I fluctuate all the time in my weight — it’s really annoying — but I’m going to be 30 in like four days, so I’m like, ‘I need to get ahead of this thing!'” she explained at the time. “Because they say when you hit 30 it doesn’t get easier. So I thought, ‘Well, you know, if I get a little healthier before I turn 30, maybe I can get ahead of the game.'”

But Lambert wants to make sure people know that, even though she ended up losing noticeable weight, the point was to get in shape and feel better about herself.

“As for the assumed number of pounds lost… ? I don’t even know! Like I have always said, it’s not about a scale, it’s about how you feel and how your jeans fit,” she added. “And on November 10th when I turned 30, my skinny jeans were finally baggy! Mission accomplished! So for anyone who is tempted to read the ‘Trash Talk’ please don’t. I am proud to be a normal size girl and I want to encourage everyone to be confident at any size. Thanks for the support y’all! Cheers, Miranda.”
