Khloé Kardashian chose Friday the 13th to end her marriage to Lamar Odom. Their whirlwind courtship led to a televised wedding in 2009, but their marriage ended today when the reality star decided to file for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The news isn’t much of a surprise, though. The press has covered the athlete’s alleged substance abuse and infidelity issues, while Kardashian has tried to keep up a brave face in public.

It seems like the 29-year-old did her best to save the marriage — from encouraging rehab to couples therapy — but nothing seemed to bring her and Odom back together.
A source told People back in early October, “It doesn’t seem like a reconciliation is any closer to happening. It’s like the situation is just too far gone at this point for a split to be anything but unavoidable.”
Another insider shared a similar opinion, saying, “She just doesn’t know if she can work this out.”
Even though the two were spotted together at Kanye West’s concert in late October along with other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, it just wasn’t enough to mend the wounds in their union.

According to TMZ, the TV personality cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The couple reportedly had a prenuptial agreement, so there isn’t much to divide up. Kardashian is asking to have her married name removed, and she is not asking for spousal support.
With the demise of her marriage happening so close to the end of 2013, it looks like Kardashian is ready for a fresh start in 2014.
