TRAILER: Caesar’s back in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The war continues in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The latest entry in the long-running franchise pushes humans and apes to the edge.

20th Century Fox has dropped the first trailer for next year’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It’s a sequel to the surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes that starred James Franco. For the follow-up, Franco’s out of the picture and the lead human is played by Jason Clarke.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes picks up years after the events of Rise. At the end of the first film, two major events happened. First, a devastating virus was unleashed on the public. And second, Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his army of genetically evolved apes escaped from captivity.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes shows how the human population has dropped while the apes have thrived. They reach a peace agreement but it doesn’t last long. Their latest clash will decide once and for all who the dominant species is.

The sequel shows a drastic change in Caesar. It looks like he’s lost almost all his compassion. After being betrayed by his human father-figure and abused by others, he’s lost faith in humanity. We’re not surprised he’s been pushed to this point.
