2014 Grammy Awards performers and presenters

The first performers and presenters for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards have been announced.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards are coming this January, and the first performers and presenters have been announced today, Thursday, Dec. 19.

Included in the list of entertainers for Music’s Biggest Night is current Grammy nominee Daft Punk, who will give their first televised performance since they appeared on the 50th Annual Grammy Awards in 2008. Then, Kendrick Lamar, who has seven nominations, will be joined by nominees Imagine Dragons for a performance, while nominees P!nk and Nate Ruess will perform together for the first time on network television.

Additionally, Merle Haggard, a two-time Grammy winner, Kris Kristofferson, a three-time Grammy winner and 2014 Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Willie Nelson, a seven-time Grammy winner and Blake Shelton will be featured in a special “Grammy moment.”

Daft Punk’s nominations are for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album for Random Access Memories and Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Get Lucky.” Kendrick Lamar has seven nominations: Best New Artist, Album of the Year and Best Rap Album for Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City; Best R&B Performance for “How Many Drinks?” (with Miguel); Best Rap Performance for “Swimming Pools (Drank)”; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Now or Never” (with Mary J. Blige); and Best Rap Song for “F***in’ Problems” (with Tauheed Epps, Aubrey Graham, Rakim Mayers and Noah Shebib).

Imagine Dragons have nods for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance for “Radioactive.” P!nk and Ruess are up for Song of the Year (with Jeff Bhasker) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Just Give Me a Reason.” And lastly, Blake Shelton is up for Best Country Solo Performance for “Mine Would Be You” and Best Country Album for Based on a True Story.

More performers, presenters and special segments will be announced soon.

And last, but not least, LL Cool J, a two-time Grammy winner, will be returning as host of the industry’s premiere event, taking place on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS from 8 to 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

UPDATE – Jan. 8: More performers added! Lorde — with her first Grammy performance — and Katy Perry have been added to the Grammy lineup, both of whom are nominated for awards. Other performers just announced include the multi-Grammy winner group Metallica with Grammy Cultural Ambassador to China Lang Lang, Nile Rodgers (of Chic), nominee Pharrell Williams and 25-time Grammy winner Stevie Wonder.

Robin Thicke, who’s up for three awards, and Chicago are also scheduled to perform.

UPDATE – Jan. 14: Additional performers announced today. John Legend, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kacey Musgraves, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban will join the acts set to perform live at the awards ceremony. Nominees Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will each perform separately as well.

UPDATE – Jan. 21: More performers and presenters added: Grammy nominees Gary Clark Jr. and Hunter Hayes will also be performing, while nominees Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Sone Age and Dave Grohl along with special guest Lindsey Buckingham will join forces for a telecast finale.

The added presenters are: Marc Anthony, Black Sabbath, Zac Brown, Gloria Estefan, Anna Faris, Jamie Foxx, Ariana Grande, Neil Patrick Harris, Olivia Harrison, Anna Kendrick, Alicia Keys, Juanes, Cyndi Lauper, Jared Leto, Bruno Mars, Martina McBride, Miguel, Yoko Ono, Smokey Robinson, Ryan Seacrest and Steven Tyler.

Sara Bareilles, also a nominee, and 2014 MusiCares Person of the Year Carole King will be singing together for a special performance.

UPDATE – Jan. 25: Madonna will be joining Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to perform the duo’s 2013 gay equality hit “Same Love.”
