Amy Adams thinks everyone should ease up on her Batman vs. Superman co-star. The newly cast Gal Gadot is at the center of a new body shaming debate.
A couple weeks ago, Warner Bros. announced some major casting news. It revealed Fast & Furious star Gal Gadot would play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman sequel. This will be the first time the heroine’s been portrayed on the big screen.

Immediately after the news broke, there was a huge backlash. Fans started to voice their concerns over Gadot’s looks. The main issue was her slender frame. In their eyes, Wonder Woman should be a strong, intimidating character. She should have a more muscular build.
Joaquin Phoenix wanted for Batman vs. Superman, but as who? >>
Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the film, knows a thing or two about body criticism. She experienced her own when she was hired for Man of Steel.
She told MTV News, “I don’t buy into that. Not that I [don’t] believe that it’s happening, but I’m certainly not a classically drawn woman as they exist in comic books, so I had to embrace that I just had a baby, I still hadn’t gotten my waist back.”
She continued, “Lois is not about proportions, Lois is about her intellect and her savvy reporting skills and her empathy for Clark, and so I just didn’t think about it.”
As for Gadot’s debated figure, Adams says fans have nothing to worry about. The actress has plenty of time to get into fighting form.
She implied that director Zack Snyder has plans to pump Gadot up. “She is going to be yoked, man,” Adams said. “He is going to make her a beast.”
Batman vs. Superman opens in theaters July 17, 2015.
