Wonder Woman is a role of a lifetime and no one knows that more than Lynda Carter. The actress recently spoke about her successor (Gal Gadot) and the importance of the character’s legacy.
When it comes to Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter set the standard. She starred in the live-action TV series based on the DC Comics character from 1975-1979. For the most part, the heroine has only appeared in animations. Hollywood has struggled to reinvent her in a live-action capacity.

A few weeks ago, Warner Bros. broke new ground by announcing that Wonder Woman would appear in Batman vs. Superman. They cast Israeli actress Gal Gadot in the role opposite Henry Cavill‘s Superman and Ben Affleck‘s Batman.

As expected, Gadot received her fair share of encouragement and criticism. But Carter had nothing but positive things to say. When speaking to Metro, she doled out advice on how Gadot should handle the superhero challenge.

First and foremost, Wonder Woman is more than a pretty face. “There’s an identification factor. She’s not your average superhero,” said Carter. “It’s not so much about her superpowers as it is about her ethic. I always thought of her as a figure who stands for what’s right. We all know what’s wrong with the world today, so maybe we need her right now.”
Carter also revealed that she doesn’t have any reservations about seeing someone else in the role. “I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it,” she said. “I hope she has fun with it.”
Carter continued, “I wish her well. I’m just glad she’s [Wonder Woman] going to be out there again. Maybe she’ll get her own show again.”
