The year 2013 was a big one for Miley Cyrus. But after making news all year, she is not sure how she can top that.
Miley Cyrus had an interesting year. She released a new album, landed at the top of the charts, went through a life-changing breakup and became the talk of the town for her many bizarre and risqué performances. Her MTV Video Music Awards collaboration with Robin Thicke started it all.

Now that 2013 is nearly over, Cyrus recently opened up to the New York Times about how her image has changed in just one year.
“I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I’m this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day,” she explained via MTV. “It’s like, ‘Has anyone ever heard of rock ‘n’ roll?'”
Cyrus goes on to say she got the idea because of how much sex there is in movies today. So, in the chicken and the egg defense, she blames pop culture for how she is.
“There’s a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, ‘Well, that’s a character.’ Well, that’s a character,” she said. “I don’t really dress as a teddy bear and, like, twerk on Robin Thicke, you know?”
After her VMAs performance, Cyrus realized there was no way she could top that and that now “everything becomes irrelevant.”
“Anytime I do anything else, they’re like, ‘Miley kept it tame tonight,'” she said.
In the New York Times interview, Cyrus also shares her thoughts on singer Ariana Grande as well as Joe Jonas’ claim she helped him get into drugs.

The singer said she is proud to be the latest to make a name for herself by raising eyebrows, and she knows it will be someone else next time. She just hopes she gets to be a part of it.
“Even when I hear that — that someone, two years from now, is going to be the next kind of provocateur — like, I can’t wait to collab with whoever the hell that is, you know?” she said. “I’m like, whoever that is, I’m going to ride that wave.”
The year 2014 is looking up for Cyrus, and there is no way to imagine what she might have in store.
