Jennifer Lawrence‘s infamous tumble at the 2013 Oscars has been a source of embarrassment for the young star, but she’s now revealed what caused the fall and it’s not what you’d expect. The reason: She was thinking about cake!
The American Hustle actress was so thrilled with being awarded the prestigious Best Actress accolade at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony that in her haste to accept it she sadly tripped on her voluminous Dior gown and stumbled on the stairs.
If only the beauty had listened the advice of her stylist who had told her how to walk in the beautiful dress.
In a recent interview with W magazine, Lawrence said, “I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk.”
“I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.'”
“You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.”
One of the reasons the world has fallen so in love with Lawrence is that she has the ability to laugh at herself and make fun of her goofy antics.
Although, all that thinking about cake has left theSilver Linings Playbook star a little scared when it comes to red carpet events because she is always wary that she may fall again.
Lawrence previously revealed to The Metro that one of her greatest fears is taking another tumble in public. “I don’t have any plans to avoid future falls. I can only use sheer willpower. I will be much more focused when I’m walking,” she said.
